It was a combination of several things that led to the design of Haworth, my love for typography and delving into old type specimen books is definitely a starting point . I live close to the Yorkshire border and love visit Haworth, Hebden Bridge and beyond but I've also connected with wonderful creative people via social networks that are a wonderful inspiration. My super talented friend www.carolynmendelsohnphoto.com recently ran some residential Wuthering Heights photography workshops , stunning images kept popping up in my facebook feed. Oh how I would love these cheekbones! I love how Carolyn's images and that of her participants captured the mood, the ruggedness and the romance of the story. But it also reminded me of times when life was simple, went at a much slower pace and I had time to read books! On instagram I'm besotted by the feed of culinary creative folk such as Local Milk and the magazine Kinfolk, a slow lifestyle magazine that explores ways for readers to simplify their lives, cultivate community and spend more time with their friends and family. I think a wedding would be a perfect opportunity to explore this way of life don't you think?
I'm so excited by the HAWORTH collection I couldn't wait to share, I could add more details like RSVP but decided to keep it simple for the time being! Im no pro photographer or stylist and feel the images may have a vintage mood to them, I think I need to take time to gather and forage, even sit down and read a book. Sounds like a good plan! Haworth can be printed in so many different ways to reflect your own personalities. Here I've chose simple black ink on cotton but here are a few ideas...
a) Rustic woodland, add a forest feel by printing forest green ink on brown kraft or add a kraft envelope
b) Introduce a softer colour palette, dusky rose ink, heritage green or have both! Change the leaf ornaments to a heart and a ampersand
c) For autumn red and gold think Pantone colour of the year Marsala
d) Go vintage with hand dyed ribbon, wax seals and gold ink, you can even replace the monogram with a motif from our collection here
